Once widespread throughout Central Africa, the endangered Grey Parrot is threatened by heavy trapping for the wildlife trade and habitat loss. Conservation efforts are ongoing but have been severely curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The threat of increased poaching is real due to social and travel restrictions interfering with ongoing law enforcement, population monitoring and research.
